Description

Maryam Said Ali Ba Uwain (19/ 01/ 1988 ) Innovation Specialist at the General Directorate of Education in Dhofar Governorate. Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 2010 from the College of Education in Rustaq. currently a master's student at Keele University in Britain in the field of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence . I am Supervising the implementation of robotics programs in the Governorate of Dhofar and a trainer at the Innovation and Scientific Robot Center of the Governorate of Dhofar. I moved to work at the Innovation and Robotics Center in the 2017/2018 academic year and became the supervisor of the robotics program in the governorate for boys and girls’ schools. I took over the work during a period when the spread of the idea of ​​participating in robot competitions was weak and was limited to schools in the states of Salalah and Taqa, with no more than 15 to 20 teams per year divided into 5 robot competitions. I started the work by calling male and female teachers from all states in the governorate to train them on the robot, and I went west to the Rakhyut sector to train teachers there due to the distance. After that, reached about 80 to 100 teams participate annually in the five competitions from all the different states of the governorate and even the border areas, including the state of Maqshin, the schools of Al Mazyouna, Dhalkoot, Shaleem, Al Hallaniyat Islands, and others of both sexes. Also, the schools of Dhofar Governorate during that period (before 2017) did not achieve positions at the ministry level. I trained and directed the first team from the Dhofar Governorate for international competitions in robotics in 2019 after the (female) team achieved its second place in the Sultanate with the support of CGG Corporation. Another team consisting of 4 students (males) from different schools in 2020 achieved first place in the FLL competition, and I was the supervisor of the team's training. Manbaa AL Hikma School 2022 team also achieved second place in the FLL competition (female team), and finally, Al-Saada School team (4 female students) achieved first place over the Sultanate in the FIRST GLOBAL robot competition, which will participate in the international competition as the sole representative of the Sultanate in Geneva, Switzerland in October 2022. The team got two Awards in first Global 2022 .I also participate annually in preparing the guide for robot competitions at the level of the Sultanate. Among the competitions that I prepared is the 2021 Laban Robot Challenge which a used to do a research study to investigate the extent to which these competitions develop future skills according to the Omani framework. Working on robotics competitions inspired my students to enroll in STEM majors later in their university studies and encouraged them to embrace science, engineering, mathematics, and technology.
